The Past Bites

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Some times you are the windshield and some times you are the bug.
So I got to be the bug today.

Shared pasts are tangled and messy. Today mine reached out to bite me. Most days I'm great. Working, playing, being, healing from the last 3 years of deception. Then an out-of-the-blue e-mail can knock you sidewise.

The hardest part of all of this is the "why". It never gets you the answer you want in relationships. It doesn't get you closure.  It doesn't make anything better. If you're both asking why, neither is listening. And the game of "who hurt who more" is not a game anyone wins.

Take-away - It's okay to walk away. The past never changes.
